Q: What is the recommended grout thickness?
A: We recommend 3/16".A: We set the tile with a 1/8” grout joint which seemed to work great. Some of the tiles were just slightly larger but not so much the 1/8” wouldn’t work. We then went with a darker black grout. This tile has been in our kitchen now for around 4 years and has held up beautifully. We also installed it in our powder bath on the main floor. The next project will be to install in our entry/foyer. The interesting thing is that we have seen an increase in the use of this this tile in the last year, in design publications and online. -
Q: What is the tile thickness?
A: This material is 10mm thickness.A: If Memory serves me, I do not think it is 3/8", I think it was either 1/2" or 5/8" but this job was over a year ago. This same material from other suppliers is thicker then 3/8"A: The thickness is 3/8". -
Q: Can this stone be used with a heated flooring system?
A: Absolutely, we installed this tile with a heated floor system and the tile radiates the heat perfectlyA: Yes we did tooA: Yes we installed this with a heated floor system and it has been amazing.A: Yes we installed a he a heated floor with tile and it is amazing. -
Q: What is the best cleaning product for this tile? Thanks!
A: For normal care and maintenance of stone tiles, clean stone surfaces with a few drops of neutral cleaner, stone soap, or a mild liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water. Use a clean soft cloth for best results. Too much cleaner or soap may leave a film and cause streaks. Do not use products that contain lemon, vinegar, or other acids on marble or limestone. Rinse the surface thoroughly after washing with the soap solution and dry with a soft cloth. Do not use any abrasive cleaners.A: Mild soap and water, NEVER anything acidic like Lemon or Orange cleaner. Never vinegar or bleach or anything like that, just mild neutral soap and water.A: We did some research and you want to ideally use a neutral cleaner that is made for natural stone. We’re using and really like Stonetech All Purpose Daily Cleaner for Stone and Tile. Works great and helps protect the stone. My tile has looked great for three plus years now using stonetech. -
Q: Is this marble? I thought Belgian bluestone was limestone?
A: yes it is a limestone and it looks amazing when it is down!A: This is a Limestone, you are correct, Bluestone is a Limestone, not a marble. -
Q: How much does each tile weigh? Want to install it on screened porch.
A: This tile is an estimated 27Lbs. -
Q: How does this clean up? Considering it for use in a mudroom. It is beautiful but I've had dark slate before, which shows every drip of water and every bit of dirt. Any feedback is super helpful! Thank you.

Doesn't show water marks. Going to use it again in entry in snow country! -
Q: Is Catalina Belgian blue stone suitable for a shower floor application?
A: This tile is not suitable for shower floor. It is best suited for Backsplash, Interior Floor, Interior Wall, Shower Wall, Outdoor Floor, Outdoor Wall and Commercial Floor.A: This is a gorgeous tile. I purchased a case to have full size samples and am planning to do a large project with it myself, which includes shower walls and bathroom floor. I would be hesitant to use on a shower floor myself because of the large format (depending on slope to drainage) and as the tile is smooth, it may become a slip concern. Shower floor isn't listed as an application under the tile spec's, I normally defer to that. -
Q: How large are the samples? All I need for my project is two 18X26 tiles.
A: Sample sizes vary depending on the tile. All samples will be large enough for you to see the color, finish, and material of the tile.A: The samples are pretty small, maybe 4”x4”A: If you buy 1 case you will receive two 18x36 tiles. I recently did this to see the full tiles vs. the sample, the samples are only a few inches square. This tile is gorgeous.A: Not sure but one package it only two 18x36. They come with a chiseled edge so you’ll need to figure out the one smooth side. -
Q: I received my sample of Catalina Belgian Bluestone it looks like there is a sealer on it. Is it sealed or just polished? Does it need to be sealed
A: It is recommended to seal and reseal this tile periodically. Use grout release, grout the tile, then use a sealant to the tile such as our MP90. Additional tips on sealing and maintaining this tile can be found under the "Installation" tab.A: The stone needs a sealer. It is brittle and prone to cracking- you must get a good mortar bed on the entire back of the stone. It is also prone to micro scratches. I happen to love it and will use it again. You should order 20% more than you need. I ended up waxing the stone on flooring applications, and sealing it on wall applications. Gorgeous stone.

Stunning
We used this for a fireplace remodel floor hearth against deep brownish black wood flooring and it turned out stunning. I searched and searched for the right product, must have ordered 20 samples from tilebar, the Belgian Bluestone won out... gorgeous! It's understated but rich and luxurious both in look and feel.

Textural, Earthy, & Elegant
Gorgeous marble. It looks primordial, with little curls and wisps in the texture. The color is playful and hard to pin down: it can look pink at times or more neutral depending on what?s around it. Great feel & look.
