Q: Is there variability in shade and texture? Lancaster Vanilla Cream Ivory Polished Ceramic Tiles
A: The glazed surface of the tiles is smooth but not flat. The very slight surface variation provides very subtle light reflection.A: While there may be some variation in texture, it is minimal, as in nothing stands out when looking at it. We notice no color variations. We used this tile for a kitchen backsplash. Very pleased with the outcome. Now this was a couple of years ago, something could have changed in the collection by now so YMMV.A: No color variation but texture is wavy and varied among the tilesA: There isn’t really variation in the color but definitely in the texture. It’s kind of wavy..ish! It was just what I was looking for in my kitchen backsplash.A: The Lancaster Vanilla Cream Ivory 3x12 Polished Ceramic Subway Tile has high variation within the collection. This tile also has plenty of differences in texture, as it is hand textured. -
Q: What color grout goes with the vanilla cream?
A: We used the same. AlabasterA: Hi - The grout I used was: Bostik Dry Tile Grout, unsanded, color = Alabaster (30851080, UP19335523). The grout color is very slightly darker than the tiles so that the tile pattern is visible but not annoying. -
Q: What size grout line works best for these tiles? 1/16 or 1/8? Will be using for a kitchen backsplash with a darker grout. Thanks!
A: 1/8 is what I have in a lighter groutA: I used an eighth inch with a matching grout. The finished product is beautiful.A: I usually use the smallest grout lines possible, but because there’s some variation in the edges of these tiles you might want to use 1/8” to avoid any awkward spots. Looks like 1/8” in the photo. -
Q: What size tile spacers are recommended? The installation instruction say use thinset for glass tile....is this true or a typo? Thank you
A: To avoid affecting the color of the tile, White modified thin-set such as Bostik Glass Mate is highly recommendedA: My contractor didn't need spacers at all. -
Q: I have vanilla cabinet, light grey countertop, would this tile work?
A: I have vanilla counter tops and vanilla cabinets The. tile is a warm vanilla color (not so good at descriptions ) but it is not brownish more towards yellowish side of vanilla You might like to try a sample first if in doubt it is beautiful and the texture adds a little more interest than a plain subway tile. The edges look sort of rustic so rustic and modern at the same time I am going to caulk with matching grout so it looks clean hope this helpsA: I suggest you order a sample tile. Then you can see how the elements would work together. I have this tile as kitchen backsplash with natural maple cabinets and Lagos Blue Caesarstone (which is NOT blue, but a warm brown-gray Quartz). Good luck! Oh, and if you do choose this product I would stay away from the recommended grout--it is too white. I used a silver-pewter from a different company.A: I used it with white cabinets and my countertop is granite with a mixture of Browns and cream. I used a dark sand grout with it. I love it as it lets my countertops be the main focal point. -
Q: The Lancaster Vanilla in the 3x6 looks much more white than the 3x12 (which looks more ivory) on the computer. Are they actually the same color?
A: I just have 2 samples of 3x6 and 2 of 3x12 at this point and the color is identical. So creamy and beautiful, will be using it for our kitchen backsplash.A: They are both a very creamy vanilla. Even though we have a white porcelain farm house sink, they still complement it beautifully. The slightly uneven texture of the tile reflects ambient light and makes them a bit of a chameleon. We've had so many compliments, love them. Would do it again in a heartbeat.A: i think it's the computer image! Order a sample to be safe! We put in the vanilla 3x12 and it's amazing!A: YesA: Yes they are the same color. Used this in my bathroom and it looks great. Picture on the web site does make it look off.A: I purchased the 3x12 so while I can't speak to the 3x6 in person, I would have to imagine they are indeed the same color. The color looks more yellow in some of these images than in person. It is a nice soft creamy color.A: They are the same color. -
Q: What color of grout is recommended for the vanilla color?
A: We recommend the Laticrete Permacolor Bright White Grout. -
Q: Are there bullnose pieces for this tile? If not, how do you tile a shower curb using this tile?
A: There are not bullnose pieces, however, there should be a chair rail piece in the same color that you could use. I used a stainless steel Schluter strip to finish the edges which adds a nice polished appearance.A: I wasn't able to purchase bullnose pieces when I used it on my kitchen backsplash. I found a strip of edging at Home Depot that matched perfectly. Hope you are able to find something. I love the tile.

A great look!
We remodeled our bathroom and used the black tiles in the picture. The shower was a show stopper. I designed the bathroom makeover, withe the tiles placed vertically, and lined up grid-style with white grout. My contractor tried to talk me out of it, but he was so impressed he repeated the style for other customers who loved it and used the same tiles.
We later remodeled a second bathroom and used the same tiles, this time in white. It also turned out looking extremely nice. -

Pencil liner
Looks great and matches the corresponding subway tile. One thing to note is that the pencil liner is unfinished on the edges (like the subway tile). So for a finished edge, recommend chair rail or bullnose tile.

Beautiful handmade tile
The tile looks great and is just what we hoped for. My only reason for not giving a 5 star is that the glue protecting each tile was difficult to remove and I've purchased previous tiles from Lowe's that came right off so I know it's possible.

Shiny and matte for the win!
Love this tile. I paired it with the matte porcelain Bond series and I think it is stunning. Tons of compliments. Using it again as a backsplash in my ADU kitchen remodel.

Subtle, yet powerful tile.
Very beautiful with subtle movement that looks luxurious. The tile is thick and if you're worried about cracking, you shouldn't. My contractor didn't like working with it at first and recommended getting tile with less variation in the tile edging. But after seeing a whole shower wall with it? well he was impressed as well.
