Q: What is the difference between polished glass and frosted glass tile?
A: Polished vs. Frosted.
Polished has a reflective surface and you can see through the body of the tile. Frosted is more of a beach glass look where you can see the color, but it has a bit more of a weathered finish that you can't see through the body.A: I have this glass tile. It’s clear like glass but colored blue. It’s beautiful. It’s shiny like glass. I would imagine the frosted isn’t clear.A: I am not sure. We bought polished glass. It has a glossy surface. It reflects the under cabinet lights. We like it. -
Q: We would like to use this tile for a clinic, is this tile anti-bacterial? Where can we get a complete specification of this tile? And how can we cut this tile?
A: For more technical specifications of this tile, please email [email protected]. For cutting, use a glasscutter (score and snap) with a new diamond wheel for best results when cutting our glass tiles. Wetting the diamond wheel with oil before cutting will produce the smoothest cuts. For more information see the Installation Guidelines on the product page. -
Q: If the tile is not abutting a door jam or cabinet, how do you finish the edge? Is there a bullnose or other product to finish it if you can see the edge?
A: We don't have a corresponding trim piece for this collection at this time. You can try adding a contrasting color from another collection. Browse all of our trim pieces here which include metal edging strips: https://tilebar.com/collection/trim-pieces.html
Alternatively, you can line the tile with a clean caulk line that matches the color of the grout.A: Hi,
I suggest using a metal edge trim, it offers a clean, contemporary finish with glass tiles.. Schluter has lots of great options. Also, check with your local tile store, often they carry metal edge trims in a variety of finish options. Most often sold in 8' lengths. The big box stores in larger markets also sometimes carry metal edge trims, but start with your local tile store first. Good luck!A: You can use Schluter which is a metal product that comes in different colors and allows you to give tile a clean edge. Available at any tile place, HD or Lowes.A: Yes, you can use a Schluter strip (metal strip) to finish the edge. Very nice clean look.A: The edges are glass too, just like the top. So you actually get a very clean, contemporary look without a bulky bull nose. If it is cut, it’s still a glass edge.A: At the time I purchased, there was nothing available. Now you can get a pencil piece in the glass to use. I finished it with a fabulous piece of carrara marble pencil edging. Sometimes you gotta think outside the box and use another product that serves as a transition piece or accent!A: You can finish it off with a sluter strip. They come in silver and you can sometimes you can find them in white. -
Q: How do you drill a hole in this tile. I have diamond bits and am going How do you drill a hole in this tile? I have diamond bits and am going very slow with water but it cracks every time. Any experience?
A: If possible, drill holes before installing tile. Drilling from both sides can ensure a cleaner finish if the hole will be visible after installation. Using a new diamond coring bit (for large holes) or spade bit (for small holes) with a diamond tip made for glass drilling will give the best results. Lubricating the bit and tile surface with a continuous spray of oil/water mix will prolong the life of bits and provide a better-finished edge. When possible, the use of a jig will ensure precise placement of holes to be drilled.
When drilling holes for anchoring bolts, plumbing or any other dissimilar material always ensure a minimum of 1/8" clearance around the item is provided to avoid cracking due to disparate expansion and contraction rates or stress transfer.

BEAUTIFUL!
This tile is so beautiful! My kitchen is gorgeous! My tile installer was leery of working with the 'clear grout' but ended up LOVING working with it and was so happy with the final product. The turquoise tile is such a happy color!

Not as white as anticipated
I installed this in a stacked pattern as my backsplash. The color is disappointing though. The back of the tile is painted a bright white but when installed it does not look bright white. You have to consider that it's glass and most glass products inherently have a green tint that, unfortunately, overrides the white backing. Based on the photos, I was anticipating tile that reads as white but it's more of a light green. Still it's a very clean, modern look.

Very Pleased With Master Bath Project
Worked out beautifully in master bath remodel. Installed on backsplash, custom niche in shower, a band of three tiles on three walls of showe and outside border as you step into shower.
