The roll-on stuff worked but was more work than expected.
This roll-on adhesive worked ok but was a little difficult to roll onto the floor evenly. It's supposed to cover 350 - 400 sq.ft. but it was hard to know if I was laying down an appropriate amount (too much? too little?). After a while my roller got gummed up and stopped rolling. I tried to clean it off but only helped a little. I ended up using it like a squeegee which seemed to work ok. Getting the right amount was still a guess and spreading it evenly still took some finesse.
I learned to precut & dry fit the tile before laying the adhesive because having some tile requiring intricate cuts took a while to measure and cut and put in place. Meanwhile, the glue is drying before you get the chance to roll it out.
I did a 17x11 ft basement laundry/utility room by myself over the course of 3 days. Two of us would have been better. There was a good amount of cutting involved ( I used a large 12" lg pair of tin snips - worked better/faster for me than a straight edge and razor).
After rolling the tiles, in all directions and sparing no effort, some edges didn't stick perfectly and lifted ever so slightly. I tried using some heavy weights but usually ended up partially lifting those tiles, adding a tiny bit more adhesive, letting it dry several hours then rolling those areas again. This seemed to work but often made a little mess if I reapplied too much adhesive and it didn't dry properly squeezing up onto the tile. I'm wondering if the trowel-on adhesive would have been easier.
