Q: Can this be used on a fire place surround?
A: It's beautiful and suitable for a fireplace surround. -
Q: I'm looking for a grout that will color match the Montauk Fog tile. What would you recommend?
A: I first checked Mapei 3D grout colors because they are made with glass crystals, and they have a little sparkle to them, like the iridescence of the tiles, but none of those colors worked. I like these two colors: #546 Cape Gray and #544 Rolling Fog. Both are from Custom Building Products. These two are the closest in color to the tile - itf it is your intention to match.A: I used the color Sanded Storm and it's darker than the very light gray of the tile. I have black accents in my kitchen and the medium gray grout looks very nice. If you don't want to see the grout lines go a good deal lighter with the grout. -
Q: Can this be installed in a herringbone pattern?
A: Yes, you can install this in a herringbone pattern. -
Q: Are there corner bullnose pieces?
A: There are not corner pieces, your installer would need to cut the material. -
Q: Some of the pictures makes the Fog look very dark. There are some pictures of a very beautiful pale shade of grey that I love. Which pictures are more accurate?
A: We used this as a backsplash in the kitchen and it is not dark at all .Some tiles are flat and others shiny, just so you know space them out between each other and they look beautiful.A: It does look a bit darker in person. You're right - some of the pictures seem dark or too shiny. I feel like the picture of the tile by itself and the one with the silver coffee maker and black elephant are most accurate. I have it in my kitchen and love it. It's a soft gray with a little bit of sheen (some of the pics show as shiny which isn't right) and I like that it's a little uneven so there is texture. I hope that helps! -
Q: How does it look next to a pure white? Pinkish? Also, if anyone used this in their bathroom what did you use on the floor? Thanks
A: I used this as the backsplash in my kitchen with the recommended grout. I absolutely love it, and receive so many compliments. It is next to a very pale grey/blue paint color, so I can’t answer your first question, but the fog color is definitely in the grey tones and can’t see it looking pinkish. However, it is a delicate tile and definitely not meant as floor tile.A: I used this in my kitchen and the only pure white next to it are outlet covers but I don't see any pink at all. It has a slight shimmer which is maybe why you're picking up a little pink in the picture on the webpage. I would call it a "dove gray." -
Q: Has anyone tried this with black grout? I want to use a dark grout, but I am having a hard time imagining it.
A: We used a grout that was a little darker but still in the gray family. I have black veins in my countertops and I think it would look really sharp actually to do use the black!A: I have not. But you can order a sample and put your grout stick samples next to it. I am ordering this product because I did not order a sample of the other and the color was very purple! This sample of the Hi. Has a silver soft grey to it like a pearl! A dark grey grout would be ok but it’s a sphisticatee tile and color so going darker may not be great when you can use regular white tiles for that.A: I would
Not use black grout! I used a shade similar to the tile. A year later I still love the tile!! -
Q: What are the grout colors used in the photos and do you sell them ?
A: We suggest the Laticrete Permacolor Bright White Grout. -
Q: Does this come individually or on mesh?
A: This tile is sold by the box with 76 loose pieces (not on mesh) per box covering 10.76 sq ft. -

Nice Terra cotta tiles
Love this tile. So pretty in the terra cotta color. The more orange color in one photo is the closest to what it looks like in sunlight. We used it to line a newly built wood stove alcove with the suggested Terra cotta grout. The tiles came well packaged and didn't break but they did have glue on them to separate them for transport that my contractor had to clean off. Just know that this might add to your labor costs if you don't do it yourself.

A Smooth Experience During a Stressful Renovation
I recently purchased tile from TileBar and wanted to share my experience. Seeing the Curved Fluted -White and Montauk - Sand Dune tiles in person really confirmed my choice; the samples were truly representative of the final product, and the quality and beauty stood out immediately.
I also want to acknowledge Melissa, whose customer service has been exceptional. She was kind, responsive, and genuinely helpful throughout the process. When I needed additional tiles, she made sure they were pulled from the same lot to maintain consistency, which I really appreciated.
The packing and delivery were handled with great care as well. Everything arrived well-protected and exactly as expected.
Re: the bullnose, I did notice a slight variation in tone between the bullnose and regular 2"x8" Montauk tile. It wasn't evident until placed on the shower curb. Although different, it's consistently different so it looks intentional.
This renovation hasn't been the easiest project, but working with TileBar has been one of the smoother parts of the journey. I'd recommend considering them a strategic partner; they've been a steady, reliable support during a stressful process. The bathroom is turning out beautifully, and TileBar has definitely been part of that success.

Montauk Fog Kitchen Back Splash
The 2"x8" Montauk Fog with the silver Grey grout turned out to be a fantastic combination. This was recently installed as finishing touches are being made.
I bought 60sf in anticipation of shipping damage (48 sf installed). Rather than return the extra, I gave it to a family member to use on their own home.
Everyone loves it and it works as a great transition between the lower and upper cabinets. The color is deceiving with lighting and does add more interest between day and night as well.
I highly recommend the color and products Tile Bar recommends and sells. Very Happy! -
