Q: The description says that no grout is required - does that mean grout is optional or does it mean that grout should not be used?
A: Grout is not needed for this product.A: There is no space between the tiles and they are installed abutting each other, so no grout needed.A: It is optional as I noted some of the tile had a few larger gaps so I still grouted a full wall in one of the master bedroom baths and A-frame ceiling that we opened up ...A: The tiles are very tight against each other on a backing, so no grout is needed. Also, I would think grout would ruin the tile’s finish. They are beautiful & I’m so glad I used them for my bathroom backsplash!A: Grout should not be used. Only tile adhesive to hold the tile on the wall. I installed in our bathroom and it looks great. I did not use it inside the shower. -
Q: I have standard 4'' square white tiles as my kitchen backsplash. Can I install these directly over them with the adhesive? also, these tiles don't need grout? Thanks.
A: This material can not be installed over existing tile. This material needs to be installed in accordance to TCNA guidelines. -
Q: What would you use to give this tile a finished edge for backsplash in a kitchen?
A: We don't have a corresponding trim piece for this collection at this time. You can try adding a contrasting color from another collection. Browse all of our trim pieces here which include metal edging strips: https://tilebar.com/collection/trim-pieces.html
Alternatively, you can line the tile with a clean caulk line that matches the color of the grout.A: We used a 1” white plastic trim piece on the top to make it neat and clean. Love, love, love this backsplash. We get tons of compliments on it.A: We used these tiles to border a two-sink bathroom vanity, not a kitchen back-splash. we finished the edges with 1/2" mirrored squares, each individually glued in place and available through craft supply stores. Very pleased with the results.A: I used this in my bathroom as a backsplash. I didn’t put anything on the edge. It doesn’t need it. It is so thin that it looks great with out a border.A: We didn’t use anything for a finished edge, and it looks fine.A: Yes! I have it as a backsplash behind the sink. My understanding is this backsplash should not have water directly on it like in the tub. If it gets a little water on it- just wipe it off. It is fine for the kitchen. I LOVE it! My contractor balked a little, but thought it was a good decision afterwards. He had never put this up before. It comes in sheets & is easy to install.A: I used a schluter strip which is specifically for this application. You can get this at flooring stores and it comes in many colors and styles. I used a white one that was very tiny and it looks great. I went all the way to the counter top and the schluter strip finishes the bottom edge at coutner nicely. It also finishes th side edge with meets the drywall.A: Nothing. This tile is super thin. You can't really finish the edge with anything other than caulk. It is stunning when It's installed. I absolutely love it!!A: if you have stainless steel appliances, a stainless edge might look nice. Ours is flush to the corners, so we didn't need edging. good luck! -
Q: Can this be affixed to a brick fireplace? We don't use the fireplace for heat at all so that's not an issue. Just wondering if it will stick to the brick some kind of way.
A: This material is suitable to be installed on a decorative fireplace surround not used for heat. In terms of installation, this needs to be installed on a proper substrate in accordance with TCNA guidelines.A: It is very thin. I think it would show the unevenness of the brickA: I would say no. These tiles are extremely thin. If the brick is at all rough it will not adhere properly. The surface would need to be even and smooth.A: It's quite frail You would need to create a flat background first I don't think it would set level on brickA: Yes I believe so. Use Mastiff to adhere.A: I think that would be tricky, just because the brick isn't a flat and smooth surface. This mosaic is a bunch of tiny squares on a mesh backing -- it's not a 12"x12" tile -- so I'd be concerned that you'd have trouble getting a nice finish. It takes a sensitive touch even to float the mosaic smoothly on a flat surface. You'd probably want to use some sort of backer board over the brick. -
Q: Can this tile be used on gas fireplace ?
A: The tiles are typically used as a backsplash or decorative wall space. The tiles are very thin, so not sure how they will look on a fireplace. It may be difficult to install. I would select a marble tile instead, as it will be more durable over time.A: I think any place tile can go it would work it's just flexible and fragile so any heat or wear and tear isn't it its truely decorativeA: It would depend on how hot the surface (the tiles wold be applied upon) becomes when the fireplace is lit. Why not run the unit an hour and see. Can you put your palm on it? The tile is applied with a glue......how much heat can it take? Run it by the hardware store manager.....these tile are gorgeous and worth the effort. Assume you are wanting to place them on the surround.....in mine, the heat is going up the chimney, so it isn't hot to the touch. Hope this helps.A: Honestly, I don't know. I used on the backsplash of my kitchen's cooking line and it is doing and holding fine.....A: I'm not sure about that. What I can tell you is that the tile very thin--1/16" inch at the thickest. This might make it an option that would not work quite as well in a high-heat application, but again, I'm not certain. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Good luck! -
Q: Could you please tell me if this is more white or tan? I am trying to coordinate with white Carrara marble and photos show a white view and also a tan hue.
A: This material is a natural material, so I would suggest ordering a sample so you can see the material in person.A: It is more white, with definite tan accents. If your carrera is more grey or blue tones, this may not be your best bet.A: it's definitely more white than tan. a pearlescent and warm white color. it will go well with carrara marble that isn't a cool (bluish) white.A: The color is quite white, nit tan at all. It should work very well for you.A: It is white. It goes well with white Carrara, but I suggest you get a sample first so you know what you are getting. Only you know the ultimate look you want. Some Carrara can have a lot of grey so it really depends on what tiles you are getting.A: It is white pale blush and tan i have it with travertine and it blendsA: I would say overall it is more white, but definitely has a random selections of tan squares.
I hope this helps.
Robin MillerA: This is many shades of pearl tones.....white and glistening silver and platinum, and just an occasional, goldish-tan. my new bathroom is Carerra marble appearing Silestone, called Lyla I think. Very white with gray streaks. I put the pearl tiles above the original spa bath, a Corian white on white marble. The result was magic: old bath looked new, and very elegant. It is easy to cut with kitchen scissors along the seam lines. It will take heavier scissors or wire cutters to cut the individual tiles I half, or whatever....or a fine saw blade. You can do this!!A: Definitely more of a creme hue. White marble often has a grey hue, so it may not work. However, the tile is beautiful, you can always purchase a 12 inch square and see what you think. Tile Bar has an easy return policy.A: It is definitely more white. The light can reflect off some of the tiles and give it a bit of a tan look. But when you look at it straight on it is very white. -
Q: How much is a sheet ? is it a square?
A: Each sheet is 12" x 12"A: I believe the 12 x 12 sheet was 5.00. It's been awhile. -
Q: I ordered this tile and want to put this in the shower niche that will not be submerged but will be in contact with direct water. Will this be suitable for this tile?
A: This is not suitable for wet installation. -
Q: How would I go about attaching this to wood and wood veneer?
A: I would try a wood glue like Titebond, testing it on a small piece first.A: I just use a permanent craft spray glue. I add to white painted fireplace.A: I had my tile contractor do the tiling work in my bathroom and it was attached to drywall. I really cannot annswer that question. Glue?A: Use Weldbond or Liquid Nails -
Q: Can these be installed on the ceiling as well as wall?
A: It can certainly be installed on the ceiling; just make sure you use a strong mastic.A: Yes, I would think the tiles could be applied to a ceiling since they are peel and stick and cut very easily in between the squares.A: The pearl tile can be installed on the ceiling, and just have to add, that would be gorgeous. I would not install it in a shower area as it is very delicate, but would use it for any other decorative purpose.A: I do not see why not, it all depends on what you use for an adhesive. I have only used it on a vertical surface.A: no idea
but it is a good possibility since they are so light and thinA: I imagine it would be beautiful on a ceiling....it seems lightweight enough to do so...

Beautiful tile. Easy to install. Just be aware the tiles are thinner so you will have to make certain to have a well prepared surface to apply to.

Thin, Elegant Tile
This tile was very thin, but it was perfect for my space. It did not require schluter or trim and outlets didn?t have to be built out from the wall! Definitely a plus! It was worth the cost. I recommend this product.
